Stitching and Finishing...done!

April and May have been pretty busy this year! Thankfully, over the last week or so I managed to get both some stitching and some finishing done! I finished stitching the Barbara Ana design "Frogscornu" and also finished it off into it's biscornu form. The fabric is a 32ct Silkweaver solo from my stash, as were the buttons. The back side is plain. I love the expression of "frog scorn" on the face of the frog prince!

Last Saturday I also finished up the Hummel pillow for my mom's birthday (it's displayed on her sofa now!). The kit came with backing fabric, but I used the blue floral you see for the back to match her decor.


This last little thing is from Elizabeth's Designs, a chartpack that came with the charm. Stitched it over the weekend and framed it in a small frame I had on hand. The fabric is from my stash as well, 28ct platinum linen.

Now I'm back to working on block 4 of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. More to come!

Dinky-Dyes Luna Park Biscornu

Started and finished this in a couple of days to close out the month of April, and then got the Dragon Feathers afghan out for a change of pace!

This is by Jo at Dinky-Dyes, stitched with silk that came with the chart, and on 28ct white opalescent cashel. I love how colorful it is!

It's been really busy lately, as we are getting some repairs done on the house...both porches and a window that had to be replaced, plus painting the exterior. Now if we could just get the grass to grow.....

Hummel finish...

I have been busy with lots of stuff this month...the house is getting a spring fix-up and new paint outside, and I'm trying to get more time to stitch as the month runs down. Finished this Hummel child for my Mom's birthday next month, just need to make it into a pillow. It is called Lily of the Valley, which is the May flower, and my mom loves the little Hummel children, so...

For a kit, this was fairly detailed, with lots of blended threads. I used the aida in the kit because it's a pillow and needs to be more sturdy.

I also did another block of Carriage House's Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow, the first block this time! Here is my progress so far.....four done, eight to go!

If you recall, I'm insanely stitching this on 40ct silk gauze over one. Still debating the issue of filling in the background. Some blocks are quite full, like the one center top, others are not, like the first one. It's hard to hide threads on that sort of block. Will decide later, I think.

April is just about gone, hope everyone is enjoying the seasonal changes in your part of the world!

Just Nan finish, and a very little one indeed!

In order to calm my nerves over Final Four weekend/Easter weekend/Birthday weekend, I stitched up a little goodie from Just Nan, called Keep a Little Secret, between events. And little it surely is, only one inch wide and stitched over one! Chart comes with the tin, but I expect this will be hard to find, it's so cute!


Oh, and my birthday on Easter was wonderful, nice dinner I didn't have to fix, lots of stitchy money to spend, a new cordless phone (so stitching is not interupted) and my PT Cruiser got a full out cleaning inside and out! Of course, by the time I drove it home, it already had a fine layer of yellow pollen! Still, the Duke blue Cruiser never looked better....and my Duke Blue Devils even gave me a pressie...they won the NCAA 2010 Men's Basketball Title on Monday!! Oh, and my other sports passion, the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team, will be hosting the NHL All-Star game in 2011....what a week! I think I'd better go stitch to calm down! ;-)

Castles in the Air progress report

Once again I have some progress to post on Castles in the Air by Papillon....part 8 has been added! In April I am going to try and catch up as pts. 9 and 10 have been released. Part 8 included the two vertical elements to the left of the center. Part 9 will be the same for the other side. I have shown a close-up, and this is the whole piece so far. It's quite large so I have been stitching it upside down to make it easier to reach. Easy really, all you do is flip it, and the pattern and the color key too...so the symbols don't confuse you!


I decided after this that I had better get started on Mother's Day gifts, so I pulled out a couple of Hummel pillow kits. I have had them for a while, and Mom and hubby's Mom aren't getting any younger! Started Lily of the Valley for my mom, and will work on Daisy Girl for MIL next month.

Biscornu again!

I'm still stitching a biscornu a month, just to reduce the collection! This month it is another collaboration biscornu from Cat's Whiskers and Dinky-Dyes, the Winter Wonderland biscornu. I changed the fabric to Silkweaver's 28ct Alpine Ice Reflections, and used crystal beads in place of the stars that came with it. Stitched the top with one silk sequence, and reversed it for the back. Fun and quick!

Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow progress report

Latest progress report on CaHRH....block 3 is done! Doing one block a month, stitched over 1 on 40ct silk gauze. Each block is 2.3 inches square.

Started my monthly biscornu last night....more on that later!

The Branch, by Bent Creek

Started March 2nd, finished March 13th...this is Bent Creek's The Branch, a set of five leaflets stitched together. This was fun! Fabric is Silkweaver's 32ct Dreamin' jobelan. Another for my framer in April....along with several other finishes. Now I'm working on block 3 of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. Update on that soon!

Castles in the Air progress report
